Highland trail conditions? which tires?
Going to Highland this weekend, and I am wondering which tires to use based on the trail conditions.
Someone told me it was very dry this past weekend. Here are my choices:
1) Panaracer fire fr 2.4's with Kevlar bead (~900g)
Not a very popular tire, but not bad. Nice aggressive, square tire with great cornering knobs. See here:
http://www.nsmb.com/gear/pantest_11_04.php.
These are great on just about everything but wet wood, so if it is wet and slippery, I won't use those.
2) WTB timberwolfs 2.7 wire bead stickies (~1600g!).
These have tons of traction, but are boat anchors, and I really do not want to use these because of the weight.
3) Continental diesel 2.5s Kevlar beads (~800g).
Fast, but they have a rounded profile and not as aggressive as I like. I think these are
ok in the wet root department.
Hoping to get some advice from people that ride Highland frequently.
Thanks!
